Last May, I had a nightmare. In my dream it was mid-January. It was one of those dreams that you have on a Thursday night and you think it’s Monday.
January is the coldest, darkest, and hands down the worst time of year in New England. I hate January.
It’s always darkest before dawn and right now its pretty darn dark. The good news is there are signs of dawn.
- In what may be the worst publicized event in recent memory the Red Sox are coming to Westfarms mall on Saturday morning at 11:00 am. They’ll set up outside of the Field of Dreams store. One of the World Series trophies will be on display and the Red Sox will be giving out a limited number of vouchers to purchase tickets. Wally will be on hand. I’ve never seen the World Series trophy and I plan to change that on Saturday morning,
- Today at the Marriott Hotel in Farmington, Twins GM, Billy Smith will address the Rock Cats 2009 Hot Stove luncheon. The event will be held from noon to two. Click here for more details
- I’m happy that Jim Rice got elected to the Hall of Fame.
- This winter, the Red Sox locked up Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia. Despite the press the Yankees got for spending nearly half a billion dollars on Teixeira, Sabathia and Burnett, it will be interesting to see a few years from now which team really had a better offseason.
Finally, the best sign that a new dawn is near.
