I haven’t been able to catch up from Tuesday’s election. Late nights early in the week are killer no matter how much coffee I drink.
Anyway, the bolded blue letters in my posts are links.
Here’s what I’ve been reading:
- The ABA has an article on attorneys who may play a role in an Obama administration. The article includes a potential short list of Supreme Court nominees. Three of the four potential Supreme Court nominees are women.
- Gideon at A Public Defender has a great post about some of the most difficult constitutional issues of our time or any time for that matter. Gideon does an excellent job of touching on interlocking questions of fundamental rights, federalism, and state sovereignty. Must read stuff as usual.
- The Hartford Courant ran this article about Enfield and Fermi High School planning to hold their graduation ceremonies at First Cathedral in Bloomfield. This was to be today’s blog topic but I fell asleep on the couch at 8:30 last night. Anyhow, there’s a draft in queue and it will run Monday. Suffice to say, I think what my alma mater (go Fermi Falcons) is planning to do is highly illegal.
- Congratulations to my new State Representative, Annie Hornish. When I watched the results come in on Tuesday night in East Granby, we told Annie that East Granby didn’t put her over the top. Then early Wednesday morning I get an email from the East Granby town chair saying that votes had been miscounted in Granby and that Annie had won. This is great news. Annie’s environmental ideas, ability to listen, and tireless work ethic will be a breath of fresh air in Hartford. Annie defeated someone I labeled the Worst Person in Connecticut.
Only 99 days until pitchers and catchers report. Have a great weekend.
